Lesson 01 · React
Components: Thinking in Pieces
Break interfaces into reusable function components: props in, elements out, composing components, conditional rendering, lists with keys, and the shift from mutating the DOM to describing the UI.
Prerequisites: DOM programming · Browser events & interaction
Learning objectives
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to:
- Write function components that turn props into descriptions of UI
- Compose components inside other components' returned markup
- Render conditionally with ternaries and &&, and render lists with map and keys
- Explain the declarative model - describing what the UI is for given data - versus manual DOM updates
